A MAN stabbed 38 times and left for dead survived — because he was so chubby.

Danny Ross, 44, was left bloodied and in agony after crazed David Johnson strangled him with a belt and knifed him repeatedly.

Sixteen-stone Danny, who needed 70 stitches, woke up in hospital hours after the attack at his flat in Exeter, Devon.

He was rushed for treatment after a man who was at his home with him called an ambulance.
